We make it ridiculously easy to teach online.

Ruzuku creates an online platform for everyday people to create online courses to share their knowledge and help people learn conveniently and efficiently. They focus on features users need to deliver an engaging learning experience and they have created easy-to-use technology.

I started as the first employee and built out the entire Ruby tech stack from the ground up. Once Ruzuku had grown I worked on scaling operations, expanding the infrastruture from a single server to an automated cluster with microservices and redundant components able to handle tens of thousands of active users. I also managed the Product team and the Support team helping to streamline operations in both.

Fantasy Barclays Premier League competition for cash

Pitch Rivals was a fantasy soccer platform that incorporated real time statistics in an intuitive fantasy gameplay system.

I built the entire system which included an API endpoint that recieved real time statistics from Opta, a React front end for game management, real time statistics and stripe payment processing, an outgoing payments system, and an infrastructure capable of handling the large volumes of API updates. I helped create marketing content and handled bug reports.

Despite the fact that we could never make the product catch on, I’m very proud of the game that we built. On top of that our company created an awesome video which includes some parts of the game play.

Supporting quality assurance for HIV & AIDS research

The External Quality Assurance Program Oversight Laboratory (EQAPOL) is a resource located at the Duke Human Vaccine Institute’s (DHVI) to manage quality assurance programs that monitor laboratories involved in HIV/AIDS research and vaccine trials around the world.

I was part of the development team that built an application capable of supporting research laboratory improvement of data quality, data integrity, and laboratory practices of EQUAPOL on a global basis. We deployed a production version system on time, and on budget.

Text Herd

Text Herd was a group texting application built to connect Restaurant teams using the SMS technologies that they already use. It was built to allow slack like interactions between team members without forcing them to download another app or constantly trade phone numbers.

I built the entire technology stack including API integration, fuzzy command recognition and a React Native admin application.

Datacraft Solutions provides inventory management for thousands of parts through automation and simplifying order management, reducing inventory and increasing on time delivery.

I was developed a system to giving Shop Managers the feedback necessary to relevel their inventory bins based on past pull requests. The system was developed in Erlang with an eye to being able to deploy the system on customer hardware or Datacraft hardware as needed.

I’ve managed servers, databases, cloud infrastucture and the tools necessary to tie those elements together for most of my career. I was forced to learn the administration and operations skills necessary to support Ruzuku’s growth.

Devops is more than just a collection of tools though and I worked hard to implement the practices of DevOps. I worked with the product team to ensure that features could be developed using agile techniques while keeping the overhead small. I streamlined our processes so new code and bugfixes would both be simple to create, test, show to customer advocates and deploy.

I also worked to bring down barriers between the customer support team and the product team. I helped our customer support to build the tooling necessary for them to provide exceptional and delightful service.
